The School of Veterinary Sciences was established in 2016, with the start of two years Veterinary Pharmacist training course leading to award of DIPLOMA. In the year 2024 B.V.Sc. & A.H. program was started following approval of the state & Central government. The School is committed to provide exception all earning opportunities for the candidates aspiring to become veterinary professionals. Our mission is to cultivate skilled professionals prepared to serve society effectively, in the field of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

The school is equipped with modern facilities including interactive smart boards in classrooms and tutorial rooms designed to enhance the educational experience.Our priority is to provide hands-on learning experience through facilities such as:

  • Laboratories: Fully equipped for practical training in all subjects including animal nutrition, veterinary diagnostics,surgery and pharmacy

  • Livestock Handling Areas: Practical experiences with various animals, including cattle, sheep, goat and poultry.

  • Instruments: As Complying with the standards set by statutory bodies.

  • Library and Computer Centre: Resources to support studies and research.

  • Auditorium: A centralized facility with the capacity of 900+

We believe that education extends beyond the classroom. Our campus features extensive facilities for overall student development, including a sports ground and opportunities for community service through the National Service Scheme(NSS).

Practical Learning Opportunities

Our dedicated Livestock Farm and Veterinary Clinical Complex provides opportunity for invaluable hands-on experience in animal management and treatment. Students learn to care for healthy animals and address the needs of those brought in by clients/ farmers. This real-world exposure is crucial for developing the competency needed in veterinary practice and Animal Husbandry.

Objectives:

  • To impart education in veterinary, animal sciences and allied disciplines.

  • To promote research in veterinary, animal sciences, and related fields, and disseminate knowledge to the community.

  • To study and improve marketing strategies for livestock and livestock products,and work on conservation efforts for livestock breeds and wild animals.

  • To establish collaborations with relevant government departments, national and international research institutes and organizations to stay updated on technological advancements.

  • To raise the standard of veterinary and animal sciences education to meet international benchmarks.

Mandate

  • To uplift the society by providing adequately trained Veterinary professionals capable of handling livestock health and production aspects.

  • To produce Master and Doctorate level specialists according to the needs of the State Government and allied agencies.

  • To undertake research in areas of concern wherever applicable following multi-disciplinary approach.

  • To provide opportunities for continuing education for professionals in Veterinary Science.

  • To provide consultancy and specialist services to livestock owners, government,semi-government and allied agencies

  • To run “Referral” hospitals for specialized treatment of the ailing/ referred livestock besides providing clinical training to the students.

  • To foster faculty development by providing them with opportunities to participate in appropriate training programmes, conferences, workshops, seminars, symposia etc. and avail other opportunities like exchange programmes.

  • To encourage cooperation and collaboration with other departments, Colleges,Universities and Industries both nationally and internationally including training of student and faculty.

Goals

  • To produce Veterinary graduates and extension workers besides specialist and super specialist for promoting better livestock and Public health by prevention of disease, increasing production and reproduction of livestock, thus improving the quality of rural life in Himachal Pradesh.

Programme offered

B.V.Sc. & AH program as per Veterinary Council of India: MSVE 2016

Duration: 4.5Years + 1 Year Internship (Total: Five and a half year)

Eligibility:Candidates having passed 10+2 (Medical) and merit obtained in NEET exam or Abhilashi University Common Entrance Test (AUCET).
