M.Sc. Agriculture (Agriculture Extension)

The course is intended to orient the students with the concept of extension education and its importance in Agriculture development and exposure to the students with various Rural development programmes aimed at poverty alleviation and to increase employment opportunities and their analysis. Besides, the students will be learning about the new innovations being brought into the Agricultural Extension in India.

Mandate:

Coordination and monitoring of technology application and frontline extension education programmes.

Strengthening agricultural extension research and knowledge management.

Technology Assessment and Demonstration for its Application and Capacity Development.

The vision of the Department of Agricultural Extension is to become a unit of excellence for the training of change agents and managers in effective and efficient agricultural extension delivery, communication for innovation and advisory services.

Strengthening process of Human Recourse Development through continuing education programmes.

Conducting programmes to strengthen participatory democracy.

Establishing network to carry out activities of Human Value Education.

Making people aware about environmental issues by conducting awareness programmes.

Strengthening student counselling, placement, career guidance.

Our mission is to provide quality teaching, research and extension in human and organizational resource management for poverty reduction, agricultural and rural development.

Farmer-centric growth in agriculture and allied sectors through application of appropriate technologies in specific agro-ecosystem perspective.

Duration: 2 years (Four semesters).

Seats: 15

Eligibility: A candidate who has passed Bachelor degree in Agriculture/ Horticulture from a recognized   University with 60% marks (50% for SC/ST).
