School Of Basic Science

The School of Basic Sciences comprises of three domains, namely Zoology, Physics, and Mathematics. Committed to providing a stimulating academic environment, the school offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in various fields of Basic Sciences. Courses

Master in Science Zoology

MSc in Zoology delves into the intricate world of animals, from their anatomy and physiology to their behavior, ecology, and conservation. This program typically offers a comprehensive understanding of both vertebrate and invertebrate animals, spanning from microscopic organisms to large mammals.

Throughout the course, you can expect to explore various topics such as evolutionary biology, animal diversity, genetics, animal behavior, ecology, physiology, and conservation biology. Practical aspects often include fieldwork, laboratory experiments, and possibly even opportunities for internships or research projects.

Eligibility & Admission Criteria: The candidate must have graduation or equivalent degree from recognized University with Zoology as one of the subjects of study. The candidate should have obtained at least 50% marks (45% in case of candidate belonging to SC/ST category) in the qualifying examination. Admission will be made on the basis of merit of AUCET.

Ph.D. Zoology

A Ph.D. in Zoology is an advanced research degree that provides students with the opportunity to deeply explore and contribute to the field of animal biology. This program is designed for individuals who are passionate about understanding the diversity, behavior, physiology, ecology, and evolution of animals, and who aspire to make significant contributions to scientific knowledge in these areas.

During a Ph.D. in Zoology program, students typically engage in original research under the guidance of a faculty advisor or mentor. This research may focus on a wide range of topics, such as animal behavior, conservation biology, evolutionary biology, ecology, genetics, physiology, or taxonomy. Students often design and conduct experiments, collect and analyze data, and interpret their findings in the context of existing scientific literature.

In addition to research, Ph.D. students in Zoology usually complete coursework to deepen their understanding of foundational concepts and research methodologies relevant to their area of study. They may also have opportunities to teach undergraduate courses, present their research at conferences, and publish their findings in scientific journals.

Eligibility & Admission Criteria: A candidate with 55% marks (50% for ST/SC) at Master level in concern specialization. The admission shall be through AUCET except those who have qualified UGC-NET/CSIR (JRF, NET)/SLET/GPAT/direct awardees of DST/ICMR/DRDO/INSPIRE and other state or central level fellowship.
