#Abhilashi University Hosts Workshop on Traditional Crops and Herbs on dated 7-09-2024
#Abhilashi University, ChailChowk, Mandi, successfully conducted a one-day workshop and awareness camp on traditional underutilized crops and herbs of Mandi district. Aimed at boosting women's livelihoods through agricultural education, the event featured practical training and expert lectures.
#The workshop was inaugurated by Chief Guest Smt. Sneha Sharma, CEO of Gramin KisanVikas, and
Vice-Chancellor Prof. H. K. Chaudhary. Prof. Chaudhary honored Smt. Sharma as "Mountain Agriculture Promoter" and announced the university's ongoing support for farmers statewide.
Prof. Chaudhary provided valuable insights into the role of traditional crops in sustainable agriculture and rural development. He highlighted their importance in advancing sustainable farming and preserving regional agricultural heritage, and emphasized the role of Pahadi dialects in agriculture.
Smt. Sneha Sharma delivered an engaging lecture on the significance of traditional crops for sustainable practices and regional agricultural output, stressing women's empowerment in agriculture.
#The workshop, attended by deans, department heads, and 40 members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from Himachal Pradesh, was a success. Mrs. Shivani, Assistant Professor, provided an overview of the workshop's goals, while Dr. Tanuja led a practical session on the herb Vasa (Adhatoda vasica), demonstrating its use for various ailments.
Dr. Ritika Singh, leading the "Ex-situ Conservation of Traditional Food Grain Crops" project, further highlighted the dedication to advancing agricultural research and innovation.
